Anthropic has acquired the founders and team behind Humanloop, a platform specializing in prompt management, LLM evaluation, and AI observability, in a strategic acqui-hire to strengthen its enterprise offerings.
The deal brings Humanloop's three co-founders—CEO Raza Habib, CTO Peter Hayes, and CPO Jordan Burgess—as well as around a dozen engineers to Anthropic. While Anthropic didn't acquire Humanloop's assets, the talent acquisition provides crucial expertise in enterprise AI tooling.
A University College London spinout founded in 2020, Humanloop raised $7.91 million and served enterprise customers, including Duolingo, Gusto, and Vanta, specializing in helping organizations develop and deploy reliable AI applications at scale throughout its trajectory as an independent company.
The timing aligns with Anthropic's aggressive enterprise push, including a recent $1-per-agency deal with the U.S. government to compete with OpenAI. As competition intensifies beyond model quality, enterprise buyers have become increasingly interested in the evaluation, monitoring, and compliance capabilities that Humanloop's team brings.
